IndianPad: A Social Bookmarking place about Indian Stories
Social bookmarking websites are becoming very popular these days. Considering the market opportunity, even a big company like Netscape has joined this market with its own website. However, most of the social bookmaring websites like Digg, Netscape, Reddit, Fark are maintained and visited by mainly western people and that is why stories and blog entries about South Asia hardly get noticed. That is why, I feel so happy to find IndianPad, a social bookmarking website about Indian news items and blog entries. The registration process is very simple like most other bookmark sites. To test the service, I submitted 3 of my entries yesterday and today, and I felt happy to notice that my blog (SouthAsiaBiz) received a few visitors in the last 24 hours from this website. I also could find audio files and a blog in IndianPad.

IndianPad is a new website and it does not have many visitors now. As a result, your entry will not get many votes and comments. Nevertheless, I am very happy to find a social bookmarking website about Indian news items. If you know any other social bookmark site about India just let me know and I will review it in this blog.

Razib,

Forums Of India (http://www.forumofindia.com/articles) is another social bookmarking site based on India. I just launched it a couple of days back. It will be great if you could mention it in your blog and provide your feedback. It is still in its infancy, I am still playing around with it and trying to find my niche within this category.

I am planning on running the site ad free. Since I am the only one involved with the site, the cost of running it is minimal and hence it shouldn't be a problem to keep it ad free. I hope this would be a key differentiator between Forums Of India and other websites which provide similar services.

Another site you might want to take a look at is www.indiahappenings.com.

Kumar,
thanks for stopping by and your comment but I do not know why none of the urls did not open in my browser.

http://www.indiagram.com/ is the first social bookmarking site that was started last june. Its not as popular as indianpad.com but is novel in some of the features that it presents.

Prakash,
thanks for it. I have checked the website and I will surely write about it as soon as possible. Thanks for the link again.

You should read the digg vs indianpad :

StumbleUpon is a great source of traffic like Digg. But unlike Digg, getting traffic from StumbleUpon is a lot easier.

Also, Delicious allows you to link to your favorite articles, blogs, music, reviews etc. Through Delicious, favorites can be shared to your family, friends, co-worker and Delicious community.
