10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate about India
I just read a very nice article written by Claude Arpi titled 10 things I love about India. A few weeks ago, he wrote another interesting article titled 10 things I hate about India. Claude Arpi is now settled in India but he was born in France. He is a journalist and author. So, you can easily guess that Claude Arpi is a foreigner who fell in love with India and became a passionate Indian. I encourage you to read the two articles and here I am just giving the lists.

Discrimination against the white tourist? Are you serious?

When I went there white tourists were treated the best, because the locals know they'll spend money.

As an Indian from America, I feel the the most discrimination, because everywhere you go people think that you're trying to haggle out deals with them. Plus there is a jealousy factor which they portray with a "oh, you think you're better than me" attitude.

In fact I even had one hotel owner of a touristy area tell me that he hates dealing with Indians and prefers to deal with "foreigners," as they call them.

This has become a debate in one Indian portal for last three months (link given below). The Bangladeshi blogger has just dragged it from the archive without any insight or his own observation. May be he wants to cash in on the ongoing controversy and wants to get mentioned in some places for his effort.

Yes, I have read 'the' two articles because people it seems have confusion with using english language articles in their articles.

Well as far as the discrimination against white tourists goes the writer should have mentioned it a bit more and cleared the air.

I personally feel Admission fee to Historical Monuments like Taj Mahal is more for foreign tourists because natives pay the subsidised rates as set up by the differnet official boards.

"As the Maintenance Cost for the Monuments is very high and considering the fact that an average Home Tourist cannot afford to pay more than Rs.50/ , the Govt had no choice but to apply different rates."
