Time and again observers are saying that if India wants to sustain the high economic growth then it must invest more on its infrastructure. One area India can improve is building an all-India expressway. Good news is that Malaysia is now interested about it. Of course, Malaysia is not interested to provide any financial assistance but Malaysian government is interested to take the initiative. I am quoting from a report of Business Standard:
"The Malaysian government will submit a detailed proposal for building an 'all-India express highway' to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the next few months. A part of the total investment required for the project would be provided by Malaysian companies, S Samy Vellu, minister for works of the Malaysian government, said today.
…………………………………
Malaysian companies could bring in about 10 billion Malaysian ringgits with the government too sharing a portion of the project cost. The remaining fund required could be mobilised through various sources, he said."
So, hopefully the governments of Malaysia and India will find a way to implement this idea. An all-India airway may be a bit expensive but it is needed. I just wish that while building this expressway, Indian government thinks of the possible demand of the next 50 years.
What do you think about it?
