India is the land of tea. A cup of tea with biscuits is perhaps the most popular snack in this country. Since a cup of tea is very cheap, every one can afford it. So, until now, coffee could not become very popular. It seems that Barnie's wants to change this scenario. Barnie's has entered India. I am quoting from DNA India:
"US-based coffee store chain Barnie's on Thursday entered the Indian market with plans to invest close to Rs 75 crore to open 300 stores across the country in the next five years.
"Barnie's opened its first store in Noida and we are looking at setting up 25 stores in the country in the first year itself with an investment of about Rs 25 crore," Barnie's India Managing Director Gaurav Marya said."
300 stores serving coffee in the land of tea. That is way too cool. Well, Indian economy is growing fast and there is a flourishing middle class with good amount of money. I have always noticed that coffee companies are much better than tea companies when it comes to ads. So, there is every possibility that Barnie's will become successful in India.
