Getting married is perhaps a common problem everywhere. For people of Indian origin living in South East Asian countries it is becoming even a bigger problem. There are now 400,000 singles of Indian origin in South East Asia. And many of them are in Singapore. Young people are too busy with their studies and jobs and that is why finding a partner for marriage is becoming increasingly difficult. Realizing the huge potential, the popular Indian match making portal, Shaadi.com has its office in Singapore.
Shaadi.com has nearly 7 million users and most of them are of South Asian origin. So, I am sure that the portal will do good business in Singapore and the neighboring countries. I am quoting from a report published in Bangkok Post:
"Shaadi.com, one of the world's largest matchmaking websites, has picked Singapore as a springboard to tap into the Southeast Asian matrimonial service industry, an executive said on Friday.
In opening a regional office in the city-state, Shaadi.com estimated there are more than 400,000 singles of Indian origin who are of marriageable age of 24 to 35.
"The reason why we choose Singapore is that there are about 2 million people of Indian origin in Southeast Asia," Vinesh Nair, vice president for international markets, told Channel NewsAsia.
"Matrimonial services would be fairly critical to that number of people of Indian origin because marriage is a very important" tradition, he added."
Yes, for Indian people, marriage is indeed a very sacred tradition. In the past, arranged marriage was the norm and often bride and groom had hardly any opportunity to see each other before marriage. However, now many young people are not interested about arranged marriage. So, good luck to the singles of Indian origin in South East Asia. I hope Shaadi.com can help many of them to get married.
