The prospect of increase in H1-B visas will surely make a lot of Indian tech professionals and students delighted. It seems that US government is seriously considering the idea of increasing quota of H1-B visa for Indians significantly. I found this news in IT Wire and there the reporter wrote :
"There’s some news to cheer up Indian IT firms. Newly appointed minister of consular affairs at the US Embassy in New Delhi, Peter Kaestner, announced that the US is considering a proposal to raise the H1B work permit quota for India by 25 percent from the current 80,000 to 100,000."
This will certainly make many Indians happy because a job under H1-B visa has a very attractive salary. If you can work in US for a few years under this visa and then come back to India, you can surely have a very decent income for the rest of your working life. On the other hand, immigration has become a hotly debated issue in US. American companies are in favor of increasing the quota of H1-B visa but there is a strong sentiment against it among many people.
Until now, H1-B visa was a great blessing for India. However, this is going to change in near future. The rapid expansion of IT sector in India has resulted in the increase of demand of skilled tech professionals. So, the increase in H1-B visa will take away more skilled and experienced workers from the Indian market. Thus, it will not be a great blessing for Indian IT sector like past anymore. Of course, Indian IT professionals will love it as it will give them good salary and the exposure of working in the best companies.
