![]() IBM has been trying to increase its presence in India in order to take the best advantage form cheap IT workers of India. IBM has already emerged as the largest foreign tech company in India and it is recruiting new workers all the time and investing more money in India. IBM is even helping Indian government to upgrade its portal, National Portal of India. I am quoting from a report of cio.com:
“The Indian government’s National Informatics Center (NIC) has partnered with IBM to add new capabilities to the country’s national portal that enables it to deliver government services to Indian citizens.
The Indian government first set up the National Portal of India in 2005, but it was a static website providing information from the various departments and agencies of the Indian government. The government then floated a tender for technology providers that would make this portal more dynamic and interactive, and IBM won the tender. The redesigned portal went live over the weekend.”
It’s nice that IBM could contribute for India too. For India, IBM’s strong presence means that Indian workers would get the opportunity of working with a company like IBM. I hope that IBM can support Indian government to implement e-governance projects.
