Indian economy may be shining but Indian rural areas are not shining at all. In the big cities, you can use mobile phone and broadband internet at a very cheap rate. However, you cannot have the same facility in most parts of rural India. India must address this problem. The digital divide has already created two Indias. Urban India is flourishing with high-tech facilities. On the other hand, rural India is languishing in the absence of the basic facilities like electricity and telephone.
WiMAX can surely make a difference in this regard. Now, Indian government and the NGOs need to invest in this field so that rural people can have access to telecom and Internet facilities.
