India: Yahoo to increase 200 Workers by 2006
India is becoming a very attractive market for online companies. Yahoo has a strong presence in the country and many people use Yahoo services like email, messenger, greeting cards almost everyday. So, I am not surprised at all that Yahoo is increasing its workforce in India. Rediff.com wrote:
Internet major Yahoo! will recruit another 200 software engineers at its research and development centre in Bangalore, taking the total headcount to 1,000 by the end of 2006.

The addition in headcount is due to growth potential available in the country, and looking at the country as a development centre for the world.

Yahoo is looking at increasing the total number of engineers to 1,000 from the present 800.”

Yahoo bosses are really smart. India has now one of the fastest growing online users in the world. Yahoo has come to India at the right time. I guess that Google should be more serious about the country.
