![]() Azadpur Mandi is the largest vegetable and fruit wholesale market in India. Every day, a lot of money is transacted here. The size of the market is nearly 90 acres. So, you can easily understand that it is a huge market and many people trade here. It is nice to see that this market is going to have online facilities soon.
Having online facility will help everyone. It will ensure that the government gets more revenue from this market. On the other hand, for the traders, it will ensure a fair price. The Hindu reported:
“Birlasoft, the IT division of the $1.2 billion CK Birla Group, has completed the computerisation of the market whose operations are spread over an area of 90 acres in the capital's northern and southern regions.
The company was awarded the Rs15 million contract of computerising the market by the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Azadpur, in June.”
This is a very good initiative. Now, what is needed is that other large markets in India follow it.
