![]() China and India both are now considered among the top destinations for investment. Many international companies are now coming to these two countries. On the other hand, Chinese and Indian companies are trying to go global too. It seems that Chinese companies have established a good presence in India but Indian companies have failed to do the same thing in China. Times of India reported:
“When it comes to Chinese business interests in India, is it a case of ‘Left doth protest too much’? Industry and government figures indicate Chinese firms have established a substantive presence in key Indian infrastructure sectors worth nearly $2 billion and climbing rapidly.
Chinese companies, almost all state-owned, have marked out a distinctive space for themselves across India. Even in north-eastern states like Manipur, which is still deemed sensitive, Chinese firms are bidding for, and winning contracts. It’s something the Manmohan Singh government plans to showcase during the forthcoming visit of Chinese president Hu Jintao.”
On the other hand, only IT companies from India are trying to enter the Chinese market. The IT sector in China is growing fast and Indian companies are hoping to increase their market share in China. However, I feel that Indian companies and Indian government are not taking China that seriously. May be, they should rethink their strategy.
