![]() I must say that it is a cool idea- having a serch engine focused on Indian related websites. Guess what! This blog has already got one visitor today after being redirected from Guruji.com search. However, the search engine is still in its infancy and hopefully as it grows websites and blogs related to India will get more visitors. For the users, it will also provide relevant searches.

“Two Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi graduates have returned from the Silicon Valley to launch a home-grown search engine with loads of Indian content.
In a bid to offer an alternative search engine and wean away the growing community of Internet buffs from established search engines like Google and Yahoo! Anurag Dod and Gaurav Mishra have co-founded www.guruji.com with a $7-million (Rs.322 million) seed fund from Sequoia Capital India, a venture capital firm.
Touted to be the first of its kind search engine in the subcontinent, guruji.com aims to provide better search results to Indian users, by leveraging proprietary algorithms and data in the Indian context.”
If this search engine can provide more relevant results about Indian keywords than Google and Yahoo then it will become a big business. Internet penetration is increasing very fast in India. As for the time being, I am happy for getting my fast visitor from Guruji.

Hi Razib,
Thanks for that coverage on Guruji.com. Its nice to see an Indian search engine taking on the incumbents. My initial experiments with them suggested some good results both India and City, and they are fast too. I will be keenly watching this team and wish them all the best.
Thanks.
hey all
As far as my concerned that site is not much effective compared than googles site. Put some more effective and knowledgeble sites like wise googles

Hi Friends.
As for my concern, there is no doubt that good search engines and gives better search results as I have also used it but in my opinion it can not match with Google at this point of time. They do have the potential and have work hard for it.

Guruji.com is attempting to bring much better and relevant search results than popular search engines like Google and Yahoo for local search in India, much like what baidu is doing for China. Google does not offer good local searches in India. So Guruji.com is attempting to fill that gap along with providing better search results for Indian content.
Well this is a good start for the search engine market in India. But will they cope up and succeed with SE giants like Google, Yahoo, Msn ..we will have to wait and see.

Rony
