![]() Earlier this year, there was the fear of bird flu. Fortunately, bird flu scare did not affect the tourism sector in India. However, now there is dengue (the mosquito-borne disease) and it is becoming even a bigger headache for India than bird flu. Slowly but gradually, dengue seems to have the upper hand in India. Some people have already died in the last few weeks and there is no sign of abatement. Indian government has at last realized the severity of the condition and has now started to fight against mosquitoes seriously.
The main worry is that the attack of dengue may really hurt the tourism sector. October to February is perhaps the best time for visiting India. So, if tourists get scared of dengue outbreak then many would not want to come to India. Indian government, the private sector and the media should join hands to fight against dengue.
