India is often perceived to be the place of outsourcing low paid jobs. However, Indian workers are becoming more skilled and they are doing sophisticated works. Intel is happy with this trend and in the Hindustan Times, I saw a report titled Intel developing new chip designs in India. Intel has a development center in Bangalore and engineers there are working to develop new chip designs and processors. They are mainly developing the chips and processors for servers and laptops.
Intel has nearly 3,000 workers in India. India is also becoming an important market for Intel. Well, Intel officials are hoping that India will be a great place for its Classmate PC. Intel is now fighting with AMD and OLPC in the cheap laptop market segment. India is going to be in important battleground in this regard.
