This Sunday, India had its exit from ICC Champions Trophy 2006 after it lost to Australia. Cricket is the most popular game in India and sometimes, I feel that it is like a religion. People of no other country in the world are no way near to Indian fans in admiring the game. So, naturally, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest cricket board in the world.
Indian fans and Indian media have carried out a bitter attack on BCCI officials in the last 36 hours. Now, Dilip Vengsarkar, the chairman of the Indian cricket selection committee, has admitted that India does not have enough talented players to shine in the international stage. I am happy for this admission. At least, someone is responsible enough to pinpoint the main problem of Indian cricket.
Since BCCI officials now know about the main problem, they should try to sit together and figure out what to do. Well, they are too busy about finding new sources of revenues. So, I guess that they do not have enough time divert their attention for searching for talents in India. Well, they may become interested if you could show them a way of earning more money by this.
So, in the end, BCCI officials have called Anil Kumble for South Africa tour. If my memory is not so weak then I remember clearly that few months ago they viewed Kumble was not good for One Day Cricket anymore.
