Nokia has the upper hand in Indian mobile phone market. Motorola officials are eager to put a serious challenge to Nokia in the Indian market. This development center in Hyderabad will generate nearly 1,000 jobs. Motorola has always got 6 R&D centers in India and nearly 3,000 engineers work in these centers. IHT reported:
“The new Research and Development Center in Hyderabad will employ more than 1,000 engineers, Motorola said in a statement.
The statement didn't disclose how much the company was investing in the center.
The announcement came nearly four months after Motorola decided to invest US$100 million to build a handset and telecom equipment plant near another southern Indian city - Chennai.”
One of the reasons Nokia is dominating the Indian market is that Nokia officials considered India seriously and they tried to understand the needs of Indian consumer. Nokia can offer handsets in attractive price. Motorola should do the same.
