
US based SanDisk Corporation is one of the top players in flash memory storage cards has entered the Indian market with its MP3 player, USB flash drives, memory cards, mobile phone cards and digital imaging cards. The Hindu reported:
“The company also launched its entire range of products including USB flash drives, memory cards, mobile phone cards and digital imaging cards, in India and is planning to start operations with presence in 2,000 retail shops in 12 cities across the nation.
We would follow a distribution model where our products would be displayed and sold through various big and small retail outlets across the nation. We have tied-up with two IT equipment distributors, Ingram Micro and Rashi Peripherals, as authorised distributors of our products in the country," SanDisk Country Manager India, Sales and Marketing, Manisha Sood said.
The company would increase its presence in India to 14,000 retail stores and 48 cities by the next calendar years, Sood said.”
SanDisk has perhaps entered the Indian market at the right time. Indian economy is growing and the demand for electronic goods is increasing rapidly here. If SanDisk can address the Indian market appropriately then it can expect a huge return from the Indian market in the next few years.
