Welcome Relief for Indian Workers in Saudi Arabia
There are thousands of Indian workers working in GCC countries and many of them are in Saudi Arabia. Many of these workers work with low paid salaries and when they get sick then it becomes difficult for them to pay the hospital bill. So, I am very happy to see that Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia is contemplating on the idea of setting up a special fund for the Indian workers working in the unorganised sectors.  Hindustan Times reported:
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia is mulling setting up an emergency fund for medical treatment of Indians working in the unorganised sectors in the Kingdom.

Ambassador MOH Farooq has promised to seek the permission of the Indian government to divert part of the funds of the embassy for these workers, according to the Federation of the Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA).

The aim is to create a fund amounting to 250,000 Saudi Riyals (SR), which will be administered by the Indian embassy, with contributions coming from the embassy's welfare section, Indian expatriates and fund-raising campaigns through cultural programmes, said FOKASA.”

I just want to see one thing- Indian government ensures that its embassy officials spend the money in a fair and transparent way. Only then, the ordinary workers will be benefited. However, Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia deserves special credit for this initiative. Hopefully, Indian government will soon give them the clearance.
