![]() All of us want to get rich and richer. We consider it as a symbol of success. If anyone is rich we think that they are successful. Well, sometimes being rich does not mean success and may be BCCI is a classic example of that. AT least, ICC Chief Malcolm Speed thinks this way. The Telegraph reported:
“Speed reminded India, which crashed out of the ongoing Champions Trophy, not even reaching the semi-finals — and that, too, on home soil — what it means to be a loser.
“I have an old-fashioned view about sports organisations. I do not judge on how much money they have in their bank accounts. I judge them on three things — their performance on the field, how well they look after their stakeholders (associations) and how their resources, that is the population, is utilised,” Speed said at a news conference.”
I know that BCCI officials will be extremely unhappy about these remarks. However, instead of engaging into fight with Malcolm Speed, they should try to focus on ensuring Indian success in world cricket.
Malcolm Speed is right about at least one thing- money does not mater in sports if you do not have success. It reminds me of the example Chelsea football club.
A few years ago, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club and pumped millions of dollars but Chelsea failed to perform in the first season under his ownership and suffered a huge amount of criticism. Well, then in next season, the team won the league championship and have continued their successful run in EPL.
Thus, BCCI may have become the richest cricket board in the world but if India fails to perform in world cricket then this money has hardly any value.

Hi...
Strange is this blog alos belongs to you?
I just wonder
http://indian-harry.blogspot.com/2006/11/cricket-news-rich-but-loser.html
Becuase same thing is there too, word by word.Have a look.
I just find it bizarre that chief executive of ICC, an organization which has built its huge wealth on the back of BCCI and Indian players, is having a go at BCCI. I guess he got very short memory that BCCI is richest cricketing board and out of six five sponsors of world cup are form India. ICC makes huge money form sub-continents.

In my opinion his statements about India’s sporting credibility is rude and extremely offensive. Someone in his position to brand other sporting body and country as whole un-organized and raising the finger against the players is hypocrisy. I find it bizarre that chief executive of ICC, an organization which has built its huge wealth on the back of BCCI and Indian players, is having a go at BCCI. I guess he got very short memory that BCCI is richest cricketing board and out of six five sponsors of world cup are form India. ICC makes huge money form sub-continents. This shows that we are organized and far better than ICC who can’t even make enough money to survive without the support of BCCI and other sub-continent cricketing board.
ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed, has drool nonsense, spat idiocy and talked rubbish. He is outspoken (even for the position he is in), doesn’t understand cricket and brings the game into disrepute. This time, he’s gone too far…Your statement shows that you are moaning about your failures. Please Do Us and Cricket world a favor Stand Down.
