The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Indian economy is growing and India has turned into an attractive market for the foreign companies. With more people and more disposable income- companies like Canon can only expect to see their sales growing. Canon India had a very healthy growth in revenue- Rs 400 cr which was 31% better than the previous year.

The Hindu reported:

Canon India, the digital imaging company has posted a 31 per cent increase in revenue at Rs 400 crore in 2006 and is planning to strengthen its retail presence in the country by year-end.

The company is also looking forward to a massive brand-building exercise this year with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as its corporate ambassador.

It's marketing and advertising initiative has an outlay of Rs 30 crore, a small part of which has already been spent in 2006 and a major part will be spent this year on its 10th anniversary.

Canon came to India on in 1997 and this is the 10^th year for the company. What is so nice about Canon is that the company has invested in India and has seen steady expansion in the country. Canon is opening its Digital Media Lab in Delhi soon in the Indian capital New Delhi and it will help Indian students to learn about digital photography.

I just feel that Canon should invest more on promoting its products in Indian media.
