Coal or black diamond- this is what India wants to seek for its future. The price of fuel has increased a lot in the last few years in the international market and India had to pay a heavy price for this. India may not have oil and gas but India has a good reserve of coal. The best thing is that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is personally interested about this matter and he is actively pushing this matter.
Financial Express reported:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Planning Commission to set up an inter-ministerial group to explore possibilities of using coal to produce liquid fuel and gas.
The Investment Commission, headed by Ratan Tata, has suggested that this will go a long way in meeting the fuel requirements of the country.
In its presentation to the Prime Minister on Friday, Ratan Tata said that conversion of coal to liquids (CTL) is feasible and should become an integral part of India’s strategy for oil security.

Oil security is going to be a major headache for India and China in future. India has already lost valuable time in pursuing fuel security. So, it must not make any other delay. I just want to see one thing- more funds being allocated for research in the fuel sector.
An amazing blog you have here. It expresses what so many of us belive about the India growth story.
