The ascendency of India as an economic world power

ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is going to start from 13 March 2007. The opening ceremony will take place on 11 March 2007. So, we have just few days to enjoy the biggest Cricket event in the world. Millions of Indian people around the world have been waiting for four years for this event. This time it is being hosted by the West Indies. Due to time difference, Indian people will have to stay whole night to watch the matches. That will not matter to millions of fans in India and I am sure that they will be glued to their TV sets whenever India will be in action.

World Cup is really a money making machine for a lot of people in India. First, there are BCCI officials who will be extremely happy to see their earning going up as a result of World Cup Cricket. I won’t be too much surprised if they get into a fight with ICC over money.

TV channels will be in a dog fight to attract viewers and get more advertisements. No matter what the channel is, you can expect to see hours of airtimes being devoted to just Cricket and Indian Cricket. Big companies both foreign and Indian will compete with each other to get endorsement from top Indian players and show advertisements in TV channels.

Do not forget the bookies. They are always eager to bet and empty your purse. Sometimes, some of the bookies get too desperate and even try to bribe players to perform badly. Yes, it is all for the love of money. For the millions of fans, it is just for the love of the game.
