You already know that Indian selectors have left Sourav Ganguly out of the ODI squad for Indian Tour of Bangladesh 2007. This was surely a foolish blunder from Indian selectors as Sourav Ganguly has impressive record against

India Times reported:
An alleged contract between Sourav Ganguly and an international sports gear manufacturer linking payment to the former cricket captain to the time he spent on the crease has spurred the BCCI to scan the endorsement contracts of all members of the squad.
Ganguly's alleged contract, said sources, figured in the April 6 meeting of BCCI office-bearers in Mumbai. An office-bearer raised the issue. Board boss Sharad Pawar also made a reference to such a contract, though he didn't name the player, in his interview on Friday.
Ganguly, though in good form, scored 66 off 122 balls against
, and that set tongues wagging. Bangladesh In fact, there was a buzz about this alleged contract more than a month ago when sources close to Sourav had clarified that there was no such clause in his contract. Instead, there was a clause of higher payment on better performance and this didn't go against team goals.
Sourav Ganguly earns a lot of money from sponsorship. So, it is hard to believe that Ganguly will try to stay in the crease longer just to get more money. In the match against
Of course, I would like to see a thorough investigation to the allegation against Sourav Ganguly.

The nexus between the Advertisers and their agents in the board is so evident that it does not require scrutiny of contracts. scrutiny is just an eye wash. What a cricket fan sees and rightly so is that a batsman scores 66 runs in 122 balls in a match which is not a test match. And in the next match he is sent repeated messages to exepidite the scoring rate. This manner of playing does not need approval from the spectators whatever may be the terms of the contract. Not only this, when Ganguly was dropped , an advertisement was floated on TVS indirectly influencing his come back. In such a nexus do you think that ready made proofs are put to scruitny of the officials who themselves are in league with the agents of the advertisers. The complaints of the juniors in the matter are not unfounded . just read http://wadhawanvk.blogspot.com/2007/04/15-days-of-shooting-ad-films-and-indian.html
