Indian cricket team is coming to Bangladesh next month (May 2007) and because of India’s early exit from World Cup Cricket 2007 (mainly due to the defeat against Bangladesh), many cricket fans from both the countries are eagerly waiting for the series. I think you already know that Indian selectors have decided to “rest” Sachin Tendulkar in the coming ODI series against Bangladesh. Now, the million dollar question is that who can replace Sachin Tendulkar?

Former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan said that India lacked a replacement for master batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who has been dropped from the one- day series in Bangladesh next month.

"You should not drop someone unless a replacement has been found. The question is, is there a replacement to Sachin? If there is, drop Sachin. No player is indispensable, but is your domestic cricket producing players that can replace Sachin? I do not think so," Khan told reporters on the sidelines of a conclave in New Delhi.

Indian selectors said on Friday that Tendulkar, along with senior batsman Sourav Ganguly, had been "rested" for the one-day series. They have, however, been picked for the Test series on the tour.

So, there is no replacement for Sachin Tendulkar- at least not for the time being. Sachin Tendulkar is a great genius- perhaps the best batsman of this age. So, it is not easy to find a replacement for Sachin Tendulkar. However, Indian selectors should think of the future too. Sachin Tendulkar has already become old and perhaps in his twilight. He is no longer the mighty invincible batsman that he used to be in the past.
