The main difference between Indian Idol and American Idol is that Indian Idol does not have a Sanjaya Malakar. However, that does not take away the fun from Indian Idol. In Indian Idol, contestants do not sing any English song like American Idol but they sing Hindi songs. Many Bollywood songs are sung in Indian Idol.

Indian Idol is broadcast in Sony Entertainment Television and this TV channel is a cable channel and does not reach every home in India. So, American Idol reaches a larger audience than Indian Idol.

One notable problem about Indian Idol is that you cannot find enough information about Indian Idol in Internet. For example, I could not find out how many millions of SMS were sent in the last two seasons to vote for the contestants.
