The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Gautam Gambhir was the hero of Indian cricket team in the second match against Bangladesh in Grameenphone ODI series. Indian cricket fans are very happy and Gautam Gambhir is their new hero. He scored a century against Bangladesh yesterday. Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid have praised Gambhir highly. Indian media has nothing but praise for Gautam Gambhir.

The interesting thing is that until now Gautam Gambhir’s position in the first eleven was not sure. If Tendulkar and Ganguly were not dropped from Indian tour of Bangladesh then I doubt if Gautam Gambhir could play any match at all.

I would not get surprised at all if Gautam Gambhir gets some sponsorships and advertisements after returning to India. If he can perform well in the third match then big companies will surely knock on his door with a lot of money. Unfortunately, this is the main problem with Indian cricket. If a player can perform in just one series then a lot of money comes to him.
