Today is 1 May 2007. Indian team will open their campaign against Bangladesh on 10 May. So, the series is knocking in the door. Ravi Shastri is now in charge of Indian cricket team as Greg Chappell resigned as the Indian coach after early exit of Indian team from World Cup Cricket 2007.
Ravi Shastri was a surprise selection and this series is going to be an acid test for him. There is every possibility that Bangladesh may cause an upset or two in the ODI series. The Bangladeshi players are confident of doing well in the series. That is why this series is going to be an acid test for Ravi Shastri. He has achieved considerable fame as a TV commentator. We often see him in ESPN and Star Sports criticizing players. Now, it is his chance to make some difference for Team India. If India can defeat Bangladesh convincingly then all Indian fans would hail Ravi Shastri. On the other hand, if India suffers a defeat or two then Ravi will understand that giving advice as a commentator is one thing while performing as a coach is completely a different ball game.
Before we saw Ravi Shastri a commentator. But in India's tour to Bangladesh, we will see him coach. this is really an interesting things.
