
To the Indian Idol fans, Prajakta Shukre may be a familiar name. She was a contestant in Indian Idol season 1. In fact, she finished fourth in that season. Participating in Indian Idol has helped her to make a place in the showbiz world.

In an interview, she has talked about Indian Idol. Here is an excerpt:
If I ask you to recollect the days you spent on the sets of Indian Idol, how will you describe the experience?
I will remember those days throughout my life. The graph of my career has only gone up only after that. During the contest a strong bond was built among all the participants. Which is why we are all still in touch with each other. We get together to celebrate various occasions.
Without India Idol contest, do you think you would have been able to achieve the same position where you are today?
It was never ever in my dreams that one day I will land up in a city like Mumbai even before I complete my board exams. Before Indian Idol happened to me, my family and I used to make plans about how could I could enter the show. Indian Idol changed my life suddenly. It was the show, which gave me all the necessary exposure at one go. Now we are no more freshers in the industry. Without Indian Idol, life may not have been that easy.
The most debated question: choosing the talent on the basis of SMSs received. How do you view this method?
Indian Idol was the first reality based show. We never thought about this process being right or wrong at that time but just followed the format of the show. But even if I look at it now, I feel the process only justifies the name. It is INDIAN Idol, so let the whole
play a role in the selection procedure. And we must also remember that the process is not exclusive to India , rather it is same process followed in more than twenty countries worldwide. India
