Manoj Tiwari might have embarked the flight to Bangladesh with a hope-filled heart. But a freak injury he suffered during the fielding training session might just have put paid to ambitions of making his one-day debut for India.

 

Tiwari landed on his right shoulder while attempting a full-length dive and suffered an injury. Later, he underwent an MRI scan and x-ray tests and the results, according to a letter from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, revealed that his hand would be in a sling for three to five days — effectively ruling him out of the one-dayers — while commencing conservative treatment.

 

Dravid said that the team management hasn't asked for a replacement as there is sufficient cover in the side.

 

India are touring with a 15-member ODI squad.

 

However, Dravid said he would discuss the matter with chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar, who will reach Dhaka on Wednesday night.
