The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Indian Cricket League (ICL) has not yet reached in the field but BCCI officials are determined to create all the obstacles they can. ICL organizers are spending money freely and signing some big names in World cricket. BCCI officials cannot do anything about that but they surely can do something about the current players in the Indian team. BCCI is now trying to stop any cricketer in India from taking part in ICL.

India Daily reported:

Dropping an oblique hint to the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), the Cricket Board has instructed that no player registered with any of its affiliated units should participate in any tournament or match which does not have BCCI approval.

BCCI has issued a circular to state units, which said a decision to this effect had been taken at the Working Committee meeting in Delhi on June 12.

In the same meeting, BCCI also shot down the Essel-group backed ICL, denying them approval.

No office bearer or member of any affiliated unit, member of the board, member of any committee or sub-committee of the board should associate in any manner with the individuals or organisations conducting or planning to conduct such tournaments or matches, the circular said.

So, BCCI officials have adopted a very smart strategy to fight with ICL. If any player gets involved with ICL then they would have to forget about playing for India in the international level. This is something that no Indian cricketer would love to do.

BCCI officials are now in a bad position. Because of India’s miserable performance in World Cup Cricket 2007, people are angry with BCCI. This has given ICL organizers some room to maneuver.
