Many people in India are crazy to do amazing feats with just one goal in mind- to see their names in the record book. India is a poor country and seeing your name in the record book not only bring media coverage for you but also some much needed cash. So, they are ready to go at great lengths and put themselves and others at risk. This is what Dileepan Raj.

He is just 15 years old but he has already carried out a caesarean section just to see his name in the record book. The worst thing is that his parents have supported him for doing it and he performed the surgery under their supervision.

According to reports, Raj carried out the caesarean operation on a 20-year-old woman under the supervision of his parents at their nursing home, Mathi Surgical and Maternity Hospital, in Manaparai town.

They said the family wanted to see their son's name in the record books as the "youngest surgeon in the world".

Several doctors who are members of the government-run Indian Medical Association who saw the video recording made by the parents have spoken out against the surgery.

The chairman of the association's academic wing Dr KK Aggarwal called it "shocking and extremely unethical".

This is more than unethical. This is dangerous and it can encourage other teenagers and their stupid parents to go for this kind of dangerous thing. The worst part is that Dileepan Raj and his parents did not even bother to take permission from the husband of the woman that they operated.

At the weekly meeting of the IMA Trichy Chapter two months ago, the boy's father had reportedly played a video clip of his son's surgical performance, claiming it to be a world record.

 

The mother and the newborn girl are doing fine. The girl's father says no prior consent was obtained before the surgery.

 

''The doctor and his son were present in the operation theatre,'' said the woman's husband.
