The ascendency of India as an economic world power

India has one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Naturally, India has a lot of historical sites and many tourists from around the world come to visit this place. India has a number of places recognized by UNESCO as world heritage. I am happy to see that India has now an addition to this site- the historical Red Fort.

The magnificent Mogul monument was among 45 new sites which were considered by the World Heritage Committee for inscription on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

With Thursday's announcement, Red Fort will now be inscribed on the Heritage List alongside 10 other monuments which include Agra Fort, Ajanta caves, Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park in Gujarat, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Mumbai), Ellora Caves, Churches and Convents of Goa, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and Elephanta Caves.

I think that more sites from India should get recognized by UNESCO. Now, there will be a growing interest about the Fort. Next time you visit it, remember that you are visiting a place which is a part of human heritage.
