If you are a fan of cricket then you must know that cricket is a game full of uncertainty. Yes, uncertainty is in the cricket field but now it seems that uncertainty has come out of the field in Indian cricket over the matter of ICL, a proposed mega cricket tournament owned by ZEE Network. ICL (Indian Cricket League) is now the most talked topic in Indian cricket arena. The fight between ICL authority and BCCI over the legality of such tournament is still going on.
You already know ICL would be a Twenty20 cricket tournament and the tournament will include some mega stars of the international cricket like Shane Warne, Brian Lara etc. However, BCCI is totally against the tournament and said that they would not recognize the tournament. BCCI even has threatened to those who have already joined ICL or who are going to join in future.
The recent news is that ICL is now thinking of the local players who could not make it to the national team despite having a huge potential in them. So, the Ranji and Duleep cricketers who have already proved themselves in domestic cricket are now in a dilemma.
Indian Express reported:
Further he adds: “Senior Ranji and Duleep cricketers will also be considered.” This is where the likes of Jadhav come into the picture. Frustrated with the inability over the years to make it to the Indian team and tired of mundane domestic matches, such players could be lured into the big open ICL market.
There is also a plan in place to find venues. Other than grounds like the Brabourne Stadium at Cricket Club of India (CCI), Mumbai and the Sector-16 Stadium in Chandigargh, Zee Telefilms is eyeing various venues across the country that aren’t under the BCCI’s control.
Already some of the former stars of Indian cricket like Kapil Dev, Kiron More, Sandeep Patil have joined ICL. The more the stars are joining ICL, BCCI officials are becoming worried. It seems that the conflict is getting complicated day by day.
