Kapil Dev Unhappy with Sachin Tendulkar

Kapil Dev has strongly criticized Sachin Tendulkar over Tendulkar’s bad performance in the first test against England at Lords. Mainly because of rain, India got saved and could draw the match that India was supposed to lose. Tendulkar did not perform well in this match although millions of Indians hoped that this would be the match in Sachin will show his magic.

Express India wrote:

"There are many players who play well but they face difficulties against good bowling attack, like Sourav Ganguly faces. These kind of questions will be raised in case of Sachin as well and it will continue to remain a blot in his career till he wins matches for India under difficult circumstances," he said.

When asked whether Tendulkar deserved a place in the side, Kapil said, "Whether it is Sachin or anyone, one who does not perform does not have any place in the team" Tendulkar was out for 16 in the second innings while India were chasing a stiff total of 380 to win the Test match.

I agree with Kapil. Tendulkar is not good at performing under pressure. Yes, there is no doubt that he is a great cricketer. In fact, he is perhaps the greatest Indian cricketer of all time. However, Tendulkar is not the greatest cricketer when it comes to winning World Cup or helping the team to win from bad condition.

What do you think about it?

Sachin is still best. He jsut need to play hard. Can he show his best against England?

a very ridiculous opinion from Kapil we all agree that Kapil is great and love him too. but this is very unwarranted nobody in this cricketing world can save a match single handedly. even Vivian richards could not do. Kapil was able to win the world cup because of a performing nor anybody's single perfomance everybody says abt ponting as more talented as sachin. do anybody of u thin that his absence will lead to Australia's failure? did not they win befor him? why dont u think otherwise? sachin has scored more man of match awards than any otherbody this shows that he has contributed to a teams victory more number of times. and abt Wins in World cup . in 1996 and 2003 he was the top scorer still India could not lift the world cup. Is his or team's failure? think again and then talk Mr Kapil.

Hey Razib, just stopping by to say great job and keep it up!
