You already know that India has won the second test of the three test series against host England. After a disastrous batting performance in the first test, Indian batsmen could come back in full swing and scored a good total in the first innings. Alongside, pace bowler Zaheer Khan took 9 wickets in the test that has brought the Man of the Match prize for him. After facing a lot of criticism, Sachin Tendulkar appeared with his form in the first innings and played a brilliant 97 runs helping India to an imposing total of 481 in the first innings.
Sachin, in his post match reaction, said that India needed to keep the wining monument. Terming the seven wicket victory a “special”, Tendulkar also revealed that India had a plan of holding wickets in the first 15 to 20 overs because of seam movement during this period of time.
Hindustan Times reported:
"The third Test is getting more importance now. That's what every one is eyeing," Tendulkar said.
"We'd planned not to lose early wickets and get very good partnerships. There was a lot of seam movement, which we knew would last for 15-20 overs. There was swing but less movement off the stump.
"It is extremely special and important, especially after what had happened in World Cup," he said and rated it alongside the Headingly win five years ago and the Adelaide win in 2004.
Tendulkar also praised Sourav Ganguly for his innings of 79 in the first innings. The third test has now become very crucial for England. They have to win the last test to avoid series loss at home. On the other hand, Indian players must give out everything to win the series in England.
Sachin again proved that still he has possibility to play well.
