Chak De India is considered to be one of the biggest releases of August 2007. It is coming just ahead of Indian Independence Day (15 August). This year, Indian people are going to celebrate 60 years of their independence. Chak De India is a movie about Indian women’s hockey team and the director and producer of the movie are hopeful that this sentiment will attract viewers in large number to come to the cinema halls and enjoy Chak De India.
Next week, this time, we will have some idea about the performance of Chak De India in the box office. I am hopeful about the movie in the box office.
Business Standard wrote:
Since August last year, Amin and his cast and crew have been working non-stop for Chak De India, one of the most critical films for the Yash Raj Films banner in 2007. Its success is crucial not only to Amin, whose first film Ab Tak Chappan was released in 2004. Chak De India needs to be successful even for the Yash Raj banner, especially since it has had a dry spell with its previous releases in 2007.
The banner’s recent offering, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, has been declared a dud, while Ta Ra Rum Pum, a film with which the banner began its fare of 2007, was strictly average.
Then, it is superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s first release in 2007, it is Amin’s first film for Yash Raj Films, his first big-budget movie, and most importantly, if it clicks, it’ll be the first sureshot hit of 2007 for Yash Raj Films, not just in terms of box-office returns but also in terms of a well-etched story, finally reaching out to audiences not just in big cities and metros but also the smaller towns.
So, you can see that the success of Chak De India is important for Amin, Yash Raj Films and Shah Rukh Khan. If the movie becomes a flop then it will be bad news for all of them.
