The ascendency of India as an economic world power

 The battle between BCCI and ICL is becoming interesting. BCCI officials have threatened that if any player takes part in ICL then they will be banned for life for playing in Indian national team. On the other hand, Indian Cricket League organizers are now desperate to some get quality players. They already have seen some success abroad. They now need to find some quality local players who would overlook the BCCI threat and join Indian Cricket League. It seems that ICL is having some success in the local front too.

After JP Yadav, Sridharan Sriram became the second former India international to join the Indian Cricket League (ICL), sources said on Saturday. Sriram has played eight one-day internationals.

The rumour mills are now working overtime in domestic cricket circles and the latest buzz is that a slew of players from Bengal including skipper Deep Dasgupta, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Rohan Gavaskar and left-arm spinner Shiv Sagar Singh could be unveiled at a media conference next week as some of the ICL's domestic big fish.

Many Bengal players have the grudge that they are overlooked by BCCI and they have seen how Greg Chappell and some BCCI officials kept Sourav Ganguly out of Indian team for one year despite the fact that Ganguly is the most successful Indian captain of all time.
