The ascendency of India as an economic world power

AOL, one of the leading web portals in the world, has recently decided to launch Hindi and Tamil langue based web portals for the Hindi and Tamil language speakers. Earlier this year, AOL has opened an India based web portal offering India related contents for the Indian people. It is a part of their global expansion plan to introduce AOL services to the local users of different regions in the local languages.

The local India language sites launch as the company hosts Time Inc.'s Fortune Global Forum conferences in the region this week.

AOL, which restructured its domestic and global businesses a year ago by giving away most of its services away for free to focus on boosting online advertising sales, sees international expansion as one pillar of growth.

AOL has recently experienced a sharp decease in the growth in online advertising in its traditional strongholds. Now, it seems that AOL has taken India’s big market seriously. I would strongly recommend AOL to open a portal in Bengali/Bangla language.
