The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Retired former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul Haq has recently expressed his hope to play in the inaugural Twenty20 competition of Indian Cricket League (ICL). Organized by Essel Group, ICL’s Twenty20 tournament is all set to start from November 30 to December 16. Moreover, Inzamam-ul Haq also hopes that he will lead one of ICL’s six cities in the tournament. Inzamam-ul Haq has recently taken his retirement from International Cricket after playing a test match against South Africa in the home series.

NDTV reported:

"It gives me great pleasure to play in the inaugural edition of ICL. I look forward to playing with promising youngsters from India and elsewhere along with some of my illustrious international counterparts," said Inzamam in a statement on Thursday.
It is interesting that Inzamam-ul Haq seems to join ICL. However, just two weeks ago I found an article of The Hindu where it was reported that Pakistan Cricket Board had confirmed the involvement of seven Pakistani cricketers including Inzamam-ul Haq with Indian Premier League.

Anyway, it is obviously good news for the ICL authority that they are getting a former legend in their first Twenty20 tournament. BCCI, the regulatory authority of Indian cricket, has opposed against ICL and taken the initiative of IPL as a rival contest of ICL.
