India is now perhaps the hottest place for doing business as everyone wants to be in India. Indian economy is now growing and there is still a lot of room for growth. Many American companies are already in India and they are trying to get the best out of Indian market. Now, Minnesota is thinking of doing the same. Minnesota is not a company but a state in USA. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is in India now and he is with a strong delegation to explore investment opportunities in India.
CNN wrote:
Minnesota has a very large medical devices and medical technology sector and several companies were exploring the possibility of a presence in India, he said.
Another priority area for cooperation was environment and energy-related issues, including water treatment, wind power, biofuels and pollution control devices.
Minnesota also is a major exporter of computer and electronics products.
India is Minnesota's 22nd largest trade partner, but exports from Minnesota to India grew 270 percent between 1998 and 2006, he said. The state exported $129.5 million in manufactured goods to India in 2006.
Like USA, India also has federal system. I think that the chief ministers of different Indian states can learn something from Tim Pawlenty. The Indian chief ministers can go other countries and try to attract foreign investors for their own states.
