The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Indian Cricket League is now knocking at the door. India’s rebel cricket league is set to kick off its inaugural Twenty20 competition on 30 November 2007. Cricket loving fans are already excited with the upcoming India vs Pakistan test series 2007. Now, ICL Twenty20 competition is expected to bring an additional excitement among the cricket fans. Ahead of the first ICL Twenty20 tournament, ICL authority is now busy with their last minute preparation. Six teams will take part in this Twenty20 championship. The main attraction of the tournament is the participation of some former star players of the cricket players including Brian Lara, Inzamam-Ul-Haq etc.

Each of the participating teams includes 18 or 19 players in the squad including both foreign and local players. All the teams have at least five or six players from abroad with whom the local players will also take part in the tournament. No doubt, it will be a great experience for the local cricketers to play along with the star players. Fans are also expecting an interesting tournament. Here, I am writing about the squad of Hyderabad Heroes.

To tell the truth, Hyderabad Heroes looks very strong among the six participating teams of ICL Twenty20 championship. The team includes some quality all-rounders and hard hitters. Among the 19 players, Hyderabad Heroes has five players from abroad. They are former Pakistan captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Pakistani all rounder Abdul Razzak, all rounder Azhar Mahmood, New Zealand all rounder Chris Harris and South African spinner Nicky Boje. So, you can easily realize that these foreign cricket stars are the main strength of the team.

Among the local recruits, Ambati Rayudu is very promising. He led India’s U-19 side in ICC’s U-19 world cup 2004. Though he was initially thought to be the next star batsmen of Indian team, he could not live up to the expectation and could not make it to the national team yet. Stuart Binny, son of India’s former player Roger Binny, will also appear for Hyderabad Heroes.

However, the players from abroad will have a big part to play for Hyderabad Heroes in ICL Twenty20 championship. Inzamam-Ul-Haq has recently declared his retirement from International cricket and still has a lot of talent left in him. Two Pakistani all rounders- Abdul Razzak and Azhar Mahmood are also expected to play a big role for Hyderabad Heroes. Both of them can score quickly which is badly needed in Twenty20 format.

Indian wickets are always helpful for the spinner. So, Nicky Boje will also be effective for Hyderabad Heroes. With his left arm spin he might provide an edge to Hyderabad Heroes over the opposite teams. All rounder Chris Harris had fame for his big hits. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan will coach the side. Interestingly, Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Abdul Razzak and Azhar Mahmood were the former team mates of Moin Khan. As far as I know, this is the first coaching job for Moin Khan in his career. Now, let us see if he can show his talent in coaching as well.
