The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Indian cricket league will kick off tomorrow with lots of expectations among the cricket fans. With India vs Pakistan second test starting from tomorrow, Indian cricket fans now have two big cricket occasions to cheer on. ICL’s first Twenty20 cricket tournament has already created much hymn in the media. So, the cricket fans have their eyes on the tournament. There are few former cricket greats participating in this tournament. No doubt, they are the main attraction of this tournament. Inzamam-ul Haq is one of them. Pakistan’s former captain has recently talked about ICL and reasons of his joining with the league.

To Inzamam, ICL has lot to give to Indian cricket. He further added that ICL will create a bigger talent pool. That is why, he thinks, BCCI should welcome this tournament for the betterment of Indian cricket.

I didn't join the ICL for money. I liked the concept, and also the noble motive of the organisers, which I think will only be beneficial both for the players and the game. There are many talented players all around, but not all get the right kind of opportunities…..

I really can't fathom the reason why this is called a 'rebel' tournament. I sincerely feel such efforts should be encouraged by the cricket boards, not threatened. It's short-sightedness on their part. For, such tournaments will only help in creating a bigger talent pool, and that should be a welcome thing for any cricket board, be it the Pakistan Cricket Board or the BCCI.

So, it seems that Inzamam-ul Haq has a long plan with ICL. He has given a lot to Pakistan cricket. Now, let us see if Inzamam-ul Haq can bring out similar success in ICL. He will lead Hyderabad Heroes in ICL Twenty20 competition. The team is considered to be one of the strongest sides in the tournament.
