Top Ten Cricketers of Indian Cricket League (ICL)

Indian cricket league is now just two days away to kick off its first Twenty20 competition. No doubt, ICL has already made the newspaper headlines many times. Now, ICL is going to be the first private cricket league ever in India. So, the tournament has already created much attention not only in India but also in other cricket playing countries. Essel Group is organizing the ICL Twenty20 competition which will start from 30 November 2007.

The main attraction of the tournament is its foreign players. As many as 29 foreign players will be seen playing with local cricketers in the competition. Former West Indies captain Brian Lara, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq, former Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu etc. are expected to attract cricket fans to this tournament. Here, I am giving a list of ten players who are likely to shine in ICL Twenty20 competition:

Brian Lara (Mumbai Champs)

Chris Cairns (Chandigarh Lions)

Inzamum-ul Haq (Hyderabad Heroes)

Lance Klusener (Kolkata Tigers)

Ambati Rayudu (Hyderabad Heroes)

Craig McMillan (Kolkata Tigers)

Marvan Atapattu (Delhi Jets)

Russel Arnold (Chennai Superstars)

Nicky Boje (Hyderabad Heroes)

Rohan Gavaskar (Kolkata Tigers)

However, I think, there are some other players who have equal chance to impress with their performance in the tournament. Some of them are Stuart Law, Imran Farhat, Dinesh Mongia, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Daryl Tuffey, Nathan Astle, Taufeeq Umar, Upul Chandana, Darren Maddy, Chris Harris, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Hemang Badani, Ian Harvey etc.

Anyway, the list of players given above is of my personal opinion. So, you do not need to agree with the list. If you have any opinion regarding this list, you can write it in the comment section.

after seeing your list of top ten cricketers in ICL, some question has raised in my mind. You have included Brian Lara, Inzamam Ul Haq and Chris Cairns at the top in this list, but you have to know that they are more famous as a test cricketer and they couldn't show any impressive performance in ODI cricket. I think, you can include the name of Pakistani all rounder Abdur Razzak, batsman Imran Farhat and Reetinder Singh Sodhi's name. And i am astonished to see the name of Rohan Gavaskar the son of Sunil Gavaskar, whose father is against to ICL. However, i think ICL will be successful.

This is the fantastic opportunity for crickter all over the world.......the cricket body from different countries show their cheep attitudes bcause they cant do such great event espacially BCCI & PCB.

BCCI & PCB just making money for cricket nothing do for cricket.

Best of luck for ICL.

thanks,

Waseem
