The ascendency of India as an economic world power

You know that cricket is more than a game in India, In fact, cricket is a very big business in India and Indian Cricket League (ICL) organizers are now confident that they can get a pie of this business. The way that ICL organizers arranged the inaugural Twenty20 tournament, there is every hope for ICL to flourish in India. ICL organizers declared their plan for 2008 yesterday and it seems that they are going to arrange 5 tournaments next year (2008).

In February, there will be a 50-over tournament called Domestic Championship. This will be followed by a triangular 20/20 series which will field an ICL XI, after which will come up the ICL Grand Championship. The 20/20 tournament will have eight sides take part compared to the six, which participated in the recently concluded event.

In the April-May 2008 period, ICL will open academies in different cities. From September till October, there will be another 20/20 event called ICL Invitation Cup

From November-December, ICL will hold the second edition of the ICL 20/20 Indian Championships.

That means that ICL is going to arrange cricket matches throughout the year except the rainy season. The good thing is that Zee is behind this venture and it has a number of TV channels to promote ICL.
