It was a do or die matter for Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev put his everything at stake when he became the head of Indian Cricket League. BCCI officials left no stone unturned to stop ICL. Kapil Dev worked tirelessly to ensure that ICL could become a reality. Tomorrow, we will enjoy the final match of ICL and Kapil Dev will surely be the happiest person on earth tomorrow night if everything goes well.
Sify has published an interesting write up from Kapil Dev about ICL. I am giving a part of it here:
Believe me, it was a struggle. It was tough to find grounds and support. But I thank the Haryana Government from the core of my heart for the wonderful encouragement they gave us in our difficult times. The cricketing fraternity shall remain indebted for this gesture from a state that is known to have a special place in its heart for sportsmen.
When we began the ICL, we knew the expectations from the spectators would be high. It was something unique in Indian cricket. It was a tournament that was being conducted by the players. I am happy for Kapil Dev. He has tried his best to shine against all the odds and he has got what he deserved. I think that BCCI officials can learn from this success of Kapil Dev.
