The ascendency of India as an economic world power

Indian economy is growing very fast and this may be good for everyone but it creates a huge demand on electricity. India needs to produce more electricity on a continual basis to sustain the high economic growth. So, Indian government is contemplating on the idea of 3 new power plants. Indian government has already decided to set up 9 huge power plants.

Reuters reported:

India is considering three more large power plants, in addition to nine projects each of 4,000 megawatts already planned, a senior government official said on Friday.

Under pressure to bridge a shortfall in electricity generation to feed a rapidly growing economy, India has identified the coal-rich eastern state of Orissa for the plants, Power Secretary Anil Razdan said

Well, the more the better. Many people in rural India still do not have access to electricity facility. I think that Indian government should focus on this matter too. India should also focus on alternative energy sources like wind power and bio-gas.
