India has a huge a number of TV channels. India is a country with over 1 billion people and Indian people live TV. So, there are many channels and companies love to give advertisements in the channels. TV industry is growing here and it seems that there is still a lot of room for growth. The revenue in this industry will be almost double in the next few years.

Annual revenue for India's TV segment, which is seeing an explosion of new channel launches, will hit $11.6 billion by 2012 from $5.5 billion now, it said in a statement ahead of the release of a report on the Asia-Pacific television market.

Increased penetration of new digital pay TV systems and direct-to-home satellite networks will help boost subscription revenues to $7.8 billion by 2012 from $3.8 billion, it said, while advertising revenue will rise on strong economic growth.

The only catch is that cost of making TV programs would increase. There is also intense competition among the channels to recruit skilled reporters with a higher salary. This also is increasing the expense of the channels. Lastly, all channels will not see double growth in revenue. So, some channels will become better and bigger while many other may get extinct.
