
There are just 3 weeks left before the start of Indian Premier League (IPL). This is perhaps the richest cricket tournament ever. IPL’s inaugural tournament will have 59 matches in 44 days. SET Max is the official broadcaster of IPL and the owners of SET Max are expecting huge amount of revenue from advertisements. In fact, they are charging a lot of money from the companies who want to give advertisements during IPL matches.
According to a report of Economic Times, Set Max is charging almost at the same rate that it charged during World Cup Cricket 2007. Well, it is really too much and it may not go too well to many companies. In fact, LG Electronics and Airtel did not like the advertisements rates and decided not to buy any airtime for advertisements during IPL matches in SET Max. LG Electronics spend a lot of money for advertisements during cricket matches and also related to ICC.
I guess that SET Max bosses are not that worried right now. However, if IPL matches fail to meet the expectations of the viewers then it can be a major headache for SET
