South Africa posted an enthralling victory in the second test of ongoing test series. The touring side outplayed India by an innings and 90 runs without giving any chance to India to overcome their early setback. You know that Indian batsmen showed humiliating performance in the first innings being bundled out at 76, the chance that South African batsmen capitalized on fully putting on 494 runs for 7 on the score board before inviting Indian to chase a huge target of 418. Today, India got all out at 328 in their second innings, confirming a memorable victory for South Africa.
South African captain Graeme Smith took a bold decision to declare their first innings in the morning, instead of increasing the lead. Thus, India was left to chase a mammoth total of 418 runs only to save innings defeat. However, Indian top order failed to impress once again as India lost 4 wickets at 125 runs. Sourav Ganguly tried to build up some resistance along with first Mahendra Singh Dhoni and then Irfan Pathan.
However, India’s hope came to an end when Ganguly went back to the pavilion after scoring a fighting score of 87. Dhoni and Pathan contributed 52 and 43 runs respectively. South African pacers appeared ruthless once again as Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini took three wickets each, while Morne Morkel bagged two wickets. Third and the final test will start on 11 April.
