Sanath Jayasuriya became 39 years old today. I cannot think of any other cricket player who is at his age. He started playing international cricket in 1989 and he is still going strong. Today, he again did something to silence any critic. Sanath Jayasuriya hit 130 runs against Bangladesh. He just faced 88 balls and hit 16 boundaries and 6 sixes. Sri Lanka piled up an imposing total of 332 runs for 8 wickets from their 50 overs.
When Bangladesh came to bat, the only target for the batsmen were to score a decent total and accept an honorable defeat. Bangladesh could score just 174 runs all out in 38.3. They still had 11.3 overs but no wicket. I would not say that Bangladeshi batsmen batted that bad but I have to give full credit to Murali. He captured 5 wickets for just 31 runs. So, Sri Lanka is in final and we will not see an India-Pakistan final in Asia Cup 2008.
